Rio Frio's origin dates back to 1915 with Don Ramón Enamorado.

In 1938 Don José Virgilio Enamorado continued the family business, and established quality as the highest goal for the plantation.

During the 1940's Don José Virgilio Enamorado began to improve the farm, and during the 1950's the plantation's crop was the principal product in the municipality of Santa Bárbara.

In 1972 the road reached the plantation and in 1975 the first experimental station of Honduras was created. In 1976 the first variety Burbón-Enamorado was produced. In 1979 the variety Catuai was introduced and in the same year the largest and most sophisticated wet mill was constructed.

In 2005 the group attained high placings in the competition cup of Excellence and the Q acutation. In 2006 the first cupping lab was installed for the growers.

To this day, you can find several generations of the Enamorado family working in what they have specialised in: quality coffee. This group has become qinners of the Q Auction and the Cup of Excellence.
